Open Access Policy

Last updated September 27, 2026

Solarlits operates on the principle that scientific discovery is a public good. This policy establishes an open-access framework designed to remove barriers to knowledge, ensuring that research is freely accessible to the global public, educators, and the scientific community.

Core Open Access Principles

All peer-reviewed articles published by Solarlits are governed by an immediate, unrestricted open-access model. This model is defined by the following provisions:

  • Unrestricted Global Access: any user may view, download, print, and distribute the full text of any article without incurring subscription fees.

  • Open Access Standard: Solarlits does not assess financial charges on readers. No subscription fees are applied.

  • Permissive Licensing: all original content is published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.

Authors publishing with Solarlits retain full ownership and copyright of their respective works. Under the CC BY license, the public is granted the right to reuse, adapt, and build upon the text, graphics, data, and supplementary materials without requiring formal consent, provided that proper and explicit citation to the original publication is given.

Self-Archiving Policy

Solarlits expressly permits open access and institutional archiving. Authors maintain the right to deposit the final published version of their manuscript into institutional repositories, subject-specific archives, or personal websites at any time, with zero embargo periods. Permitted versions include:

  • Postprint: the peer-reviewed, accepted manuscript.

  • Version of Record: the final published article.

Compliance with Global Standards

This policy strictly adheres to the open-access international frameworks. Solarlits guarantees that:

  • digital literature is provided free of charge and free from restrictive copyright barriers;

  • research is comprehensively indexed, searchable, and fully accessible for automated text-mining and data-mining applications;

  • publication is immediate, with no delayed-access provisions.

Third-Party Content Disclaimer

While Solarlits articles are published under an open-access model, they may occasionally incorporate third-party content (e.g. figures, photographs, or data tables) sourced from copyrighted publications. The Solarlits CC BY license does not extend to these materials. Users are solely responsible for contacting the original copyright holder to secure the necessary permissions prior to reusing any third-party assets.

Advantages of Open Access for Researchers and Authors

Publishing within this open-access ecosystem serves to directly amplify the real-world impact of the author's research by:

  • Maximizing Visibility: extending the audience beyond academic institutions to industry professionals via unpaywalled access.

  • Accelerating Citation Rates: facilitating faster discovery, readership, and citation compared to subscription-based models.

  • Expanding Interdisciplinary Reach: enabling researchers across diverse fields to seamlessly integrate findings into their own methodologies.
